We pretended we were in the desert.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dunes are great for sliding.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This morning, Morgane and I explored the park with the largest sand dunes on the island. Morgane slid down them, rolled down them, and made sand angels. We pretended we were lost in a big desert.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>
The houses are huge and all on stilts.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Then we drove towards Hatteras National Seashore. We stopped at a beach in Rodanthe (yes, where the movie was filmed).<\/p>\n

There were lots of surfers so we took some pictures. Then we got back on the road and looked for a grocery store where we could stop for lunch. We planned to continue to Ocracoke Island – there is a free ferry that goes there.<\/p>\n

Morgane admires her shark's teeth. We found some at the aquarium, but we bought these.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Happily, we were stopped by Eliza who noticed our camper and came up and said hello. She said she had camped a lot and thought that we might be craving a place to go and a hot shower. “Wow,” we said. “Okay!”<\/p>\n

We followed Eliza and her son, Tom, back to their beautiful cottage and learned that they had just signed the papers to buy it the day before.<\/p>\n

Morgane learns how to carry a small dog.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We went for a walk on the beach all together. Then we came back and Eliza’s husband showed up. He was excited to see the cabin, having only visited it once before. Luckily, he still loved it.<\/p>\n

We had a great dinner, pooling our food. It was funny because we were all new to the house, but it was great to be here to celebrate with them.<\/p>\n
