Hello,
Well, we are all moved into our house, but not really unpacked yet. We are mostly living upstairs and doing a lot of work and painting downstairs. It was frustrating when we had people here doing the work because we just had to wait, but now it’s up to us. Tonight we’ll hopefully get the tiles in our new, very wonderful bathroom.
Morgane has adapted well. She loves the house already – there are lots of places to hide. Carmanah and Woo are happy backyard dogs and happy inside dogs at night or when it’s raining. We’ve had a chance to meet our neighbours on both sides, and check out the local ice cream and park. There is an outdoor public pool and park with tennis and basketball courts three blocks away and we can’t wait to play tennis. For now, we have a little too much to do.
We’ve lowered our expectations about when we will be more or less finished. We’ll do a bit of work, but also do other important things like have fun and spend time together and play with Morgane and the dogs.
Ghis is finally becoming Mr. Carpenter Man like he has been dreaming about for years. I am Mrs. Painter Woman. Sometimes starting a new colour is just pure joy. By the fourth coat (of red!), I am a little sick of it though.
Morgane has lots of new words lately, mostly in French. She holds out her glass to say cheers and says “Chin-chin.” (will do this for hours at a time with cooperative guests) She loves to say “fini” and “assis” and “parti.” I say “Il est ou papa?” and she says “parti!”
We look forward to having enough time to post pictures of the “new” house. I will bring lots to Vancouver with me anyway.
We are happy about our house in lots of ways, but this was a surprise. We had an energy-efficiency assessment and expected our house to rate maybe 35 out of 100 like many houses, but it was rated 67 which is a rating usually given to newly built houses. Even so, we have a few holes to plug and a little insulation to throw around before winter and we’ll be snug as bugs in a rug!
