About Rambling Three

DSC08921

I’m Heather, the author of Rambling Three. I was born in Montreal, grew up in Vancouver and later moved back to Montreal. I love to write and take photographs. I’m currently working on my Master’s in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia (over the internet, thank goodness). I’m taking a break from teaching English at a French College in Montreal so that we can travel for a year around North America.

We’ll be travelling in our little red Kia Spectra with me (age 38), Ghislain (44), Morgane (7) and our dog Carmanah (13). On our trip we want to explore different communities, do woofing, and explore. Woofing is a great organization that you can join on-line and then access postings so you can arrange to work on an organic farm in exchange for food and accomodation (and, I hope, a fun time). We are also planning on camping and visiting lots of friends.

  1. Have to get ready for the wee one’s birthday party, but I plan on reading your blog when I get some more time later this week. I see your daughter is 7… do you home school her or are you planning to for the year of travel? We’re planning on homeschooling our daughter, but we don’t know any other homeschooling families right now.

  2. Hi, your blog looks great, too! Happy 1st Birthday to your little girl. We are planning on homeschooling our daughter just for the one year, but we did send her to an alternative school for kindergarten and we really liked it more than the regular school she did grade 1 at. As for homeschooling, there seem to be groups in most communities, so you could google and try to find one. Anyway, I’ll let you know if it’s a success for us this year!

  3. Finally getting a chance to get back here and look around your blog. It looks like you three are having a lot of fun! I’ll have to check out the woofing site. I had never heard of it before, but it sounds like a great way to travel your way around the country (or continent!). Our blog is a work in progress. I don’t think I’m a very good writer and my husband doesn’t think he’s a very good writer, so not much writing gets done 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your time at PEI – can’t wait to see where the wind takes you next!

  4. The trick to being a good writer, I think, is not to think about writing, just about what you want to tell people. Anyway, thanks for the wishes and take care of yourself and your family!

  5. Hey there you guys,

Have been sporadically keeping our eyes on your blog and just wanted to say how excited we are for you guys. What a fantastic journey. Your path takes you through many of our favorite places and some we’d still like to see.

We have a dear friend with an organic farm in Mexico. I’ll get in touch with him. I’m sure he’d love to have you.

Safe travels my dear friends and a Happy Belated Birthday to Morgane. Peace.
