Hello,

It’s hot in Montreal again. I forgot to mention that we had a nice visit with Wendy and Lawrence and the kids (from Vancouver). We went to the park here and spent time in the wading pool and rolling down the big grass hill.

Morgane has a new trick. She is trying to walk. She stands up holding onto something and then throws her arms up in the air and stands for awhile. She also tries to walk forward a little. She has one foot that is always determined to climb higher, higher, higher. It’s like it has a mind of it’s own and no matter what she is doing, it has a different agenda (Climb!). She is getting ready to celebrate her first birthday soon. Wow! Already.

Other news: Gerry is here visiting with Michelle and he played a concert in Montreal with his band. Ghis is working on opening a store, but with a less stressful schedule than the last round this spring. Oh, and we finally paid off the Golf! Hurray. I love the new van. The air conditioning is sweeeeeeeeeet.

Hi all, Morgane is going to Mari Elin’s three days this week while I work. So far all is going very well. She likes it and they always go out to the park in the morning, then have a fine lunch and sleep in the afternoon for a good stretch. I am enjoying being back at work, too. We’ll see how I feel when the classes actually begin next Monday at 8:30am. I will be working Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and doing my distance education correcting at home.

That’s all for now. We went to the drive-in last night, so we are all sleep tonight!

Hi everyone! Morgane spent her first 24 hours away from Mom this weekend. She went with Dad to Ottawa to see Tante Dada and ‘son chien-oncle’ Orion. Now she is home and sleeping as we all will be shortly.

Hello everyone. Well, we are back from our summer vacation and took a day to clean up and are now ready to start working again. I have 13 homework assignments waiting to be marked tomorrow and Ghis will go back to the office. Morgane has a lot of work/play to do, too. She is getting closer and closer to walking. She pulls herself up everywhere and is starting to go from one place to another. She lets herself down very gently. Lately she eats a lot of things by herself. She held and ate her first popsicle. Cheese is good. Spaghetti is good. Cheerios are good. She is always having birthdays. Today she is 11 months old. She loves her friends, the dogs, and most other people as well (ok, ALL other people). She crawls very fast and faster still if we are chasing her. She likes handing things to people and to Carmanah as well (lucky dog). She also loves waving and getting strangers to clap their hands.

Ghis is reading Harry Potter on the couch, enjoying a few minutes of rest before going out in the heat with the dogs. I am thinking of choosing the Life of Pie for my students this fall. I don’t have long to decide now. I start work on the 15th.

For our vacation, we spent some time in Drummondville and then some time here at home. We celebrated Heather Day where I got to decide what we would do (played tennis and walked at Parc Lafontaine) and Ghislain Day which we spent driving to Chicoutimi and camping by a beach. Then we went to a get-together for Ghis’s stores along the St. Lawrence near Tadoussac where we camped and kayaked with the whales. The campsite was right on the water and there were whales pretty much all the time. Big whales, belugas, porpoises, seals – there was lots of sealife. We also had a beautiful blue sky and warm weather with a cool breeze from the water. Morgane ate her first whole piece of watermelon and got lots of attention from the other kids.

Morgane will start going three days a week to Mari-Elin’s. Mari Elin is a stay-at-home mom with a two-year old daughter – Laila (Lila). I am sure she will have lots of fun and I’m sure work will be relaxing for me.

We have a GREAT new stroller. It’s a jogging one that turns into a bike trailer and in the winter we can put skis on it. It suits us very well. Ghis has gone roller blading with Morgane who laughs when she sees people in front of her.

There is a young mentally-challenged chap across the street who sometimes sings karoake out his window and today we learned that he calls us the Americans. Hmmmm. Is it the big flag we hang off our balcony or our rifle collection?

How bad are we? Sorry for not keeping up with grand mothers (and other few interested friends) out-there.

Well, here is an up-date:

Morgane is crawling. Morgane is swimming. Morgane eats well. Morgane is enjoying her new park. Morgane loves the dogs and cats and birds and all animals. Morgane sings. Morgane love the outdoors. Morgane is a pro of drive-in theatres. Morgane does not sleep her nights these days. Morgane tries to stand up. Morgane climbs 1 stair. Morgane is going to see whales this summer. Morgane is going to kayak as well. Morgane is getting thick hair. Morgane has two teeth. Morgane likes to have friends visit. And Grannies. And Pappies.

Bonjour tout le monde.

Bon, je pensais bien écrire pendant que Heather était en C-B visitant sa mère, Glen et ses ami(e)s mais elle et Morgane sont déjà revenues. Je mets tout de même des photos de leur retour. Enfin, je mets des photos de Morgane.

Jérome et Lynn nous visitent ce vendredi. On a bien hâte de voir les tourtereaux.

Salut tout le monde. Il pleut ici a Montreal. Ghislain est encore parti pour Quebec et Chicoutimi. Il va revenir jeudi, et ca va est probablement la dernier fois pour un bout de temps. Aujourd’hui on a pris le metro jusqu’a la marché Atwater ou on a mangé du sushi. Apres on a passé du temps a la bibliotheque Atwater. Morgane a aimé la sections des jeunes – surtout le tapis du jungle. Elle aimait la sortie et elle a dormi en regardant les étrangers sur le metro. J’ai pratiqué monter et descendre avec la poussette beaucoup de fois.

J’ai fini de lire “The Life of Pi” ce matin – le livre que tout le monde a recommandé. Je vais essayer d’ecouter Canada Reads a CBC ce soir de voir si le livre a choisi comme meilleur au Canada. J’ai trouvé le livre un peu dégalasse mais je suis contente de l’avoir fini. Ce me donne quelque chose a penser.

Le livre, Blueprints, est maintenant disponible et j’ai mon propre cinq copies ici. Meme si les mots sont les memes mots que j’ai vu avant la publication, c’est different maintenant que c’est un vrai livre. Le site d’internet va etre pret bientot aussi.

Hier, c’etait tellement chaud. Apres notre brunch de Paques (avec tout la belle famille et Amelie & Martin), nous avons habiller Morgane avec son chapeau de soleil et nous avons marché jusqu’au parc. Les chiens etaient tellement chaud. Carmanah commence a perdre son poil C’est le fun de tirer le poil au parc, mais moins le fun de passer l’aspirateur chaque jour chez nous.

Felicitations Martine et Denis et Rosalie pour ton nouveau petit bébé garcon!

C’est toutes mes nouvelles. Je vais passer une soirée tranquille maintenant et chercher d’autre chose a lire.

Hello everyone from rainy Montreal. Ghislain is off to Quebec City and Chicoutimi again. He’ll be home on Thursday, and he probably won’t have to go so far again for awhile. Today we took the metro to the Atwater market and ate sushi. Then we hung out at the Atwater library. Morgane liked the children’s part – especially the jungle rug. She enjoyed the outing and fell asleep in the middle of staring at everybody on the metro coming home. I practiced going up and down the escalator with the stroller to get the hang of it.

Just finished reading “The Life of Pi” this morning which EVERYBODY seemed to be recommending. I will try to listen to Canada Reads on CBC tonight to see whether it is chosen as the Canadian book everyone should read. I found some parts very distasteful, but am glad that I read it. It’s something to think about.

Blueprints is out and I have my very own 5 copies right here. Even though the words are the same as the ones on the proofs, they seem so different now that the book is all glossy and bound together. The website which I worked mostly worked on should be up soon as well.

Yesterday was so hot in Montreal that after our Easter brunch (with all of Ghis’s family here and Amelie & Martin), we put Morgane’s sun hat on and walked to the park. The dogs looked like they would melt. Carmanah’s fur is starting to stick out and it’s great fun to pull clumps out at the park, but less fun to vacuum every day at home.

Congratulations to Martine and Denis and Rosalie on their brand new baby boy!

Cette message est dedié a Ghislain qui est a Chicoutimi (Saguenay) ou il fait des chose de magasin de plein air. A Montreal, il fait du soleil depuis quelque jours et c’est plus chaud. Morgane est sortie des fois sans habit de neige ou “bundle me.” Elle bouge plus chaque jour. Elle aime etre sur l’estomac et elle fait des circles et cherche des choses qui s’interesse et examine ses jouets. Elle profite de sa fin de semaine avec Tante Michelle. Chaque fois, qu’elle la vois, elle fait une grande sourire! Hier au parc, on a essayé la balancoire, mais pas une grande réponse. Elle aime etre a l’envers. Elle rit au chiens et quand on donne des becs a son dos parce qu’elle c’est la qu’elle est chatouillouise.

Woo passe beaucoup de temps proche de Morgane. Quand elle joue au planchers, il reste a coté d’elle. Elle peut flatter ses pattes. C’est sur qu’il a calculé la distance exacte parce qu’il comprend qu’elle peut etre dangereuse. Carmanah est la aussi mais seulement quand elle peut profiter par lecher sa face ou ses doigts ou trouver un petit collation.

Si vous ne savez pas, Morgane et moi allons a Vancouver entre le 3 mai et le 12. J’ai hate de la montrer toutes mes places preférées a Vancouver – le foret, la plage, les montagnes, la mer, le Lynn Valley, le seawall, la creme glacée Mum’s, Dundarave, etc.

Bonne fete cette semaine a ma mere, Andrea, et mon pere, Jim. Bon printemps a tous! J’espere que vous trouverez beaucoup d’oeufs du chocolat, mais pas tellement beaucoup que vous etes malade.

This Blog-message is dedicated to Ghislain who is way up in Chicoutimi doing outdoorsy-storesy things. In Montreal, the weather has been sunny and a bit warmer and Morgane has had a few outings where she wasn’t decked out in her snowsuit or bundle-me. She is getting more active everyday. She likes to go on her tummy and turn circles looking for interesting things and examining her toys. She is enjoying her weekend with Auntie Michelle. Every time she spots Michelle, she breaks into a big smile! We tried the swing at the park yesterday and the day before, but so far Morgane seems indifferent. She certainly loves being held upside down though. She laughs a lot at the dogs and when we kiss her back which is very ticklish indeed.

Woo spends a lot of time close to Morgane. When she is on the floor, he comes and sits right beside her and she can reach out and touch his paws. He seems to have calculated the distance down to the inch as he seems to know she could be inadvertently dangerous. Carmanah is around, but only when there is an opportunity for face and finger licking or some chance at getting a scrap of food.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Morgane and I are on our way to Vancouver May 3 till May 12. I am looking forward to showing her all my favourite places in Vancouver – the forest, the beach, the mountains, the ocean, Lynn Valley, the seawall, Mum’s ice cream, Dundarave, etc.

Happy Birthday this week to my mom, Andrea, and my dad, Jim. Happy Spring to everybody. I hope you find lots of chocolate eggs this Easter, but not so many that you make yourself sick.
