Today was our day off and we went to Singing Sands Beach north of Souris (where the ferry leaves PEI to go to the Magdalen Islands. It was an amazing beach with shallow water and sand that seemed to go on forever. And even better, dogs were allowed!

And our poor dog. In her old age, she is hurting herself a lot. We have to watch her when we’re walking or she will walk right off a cliff. But today we were walking along a boardwalk and her paw got stuck in the small crack between two boards. Ghis and I held her tightly so she wouldn’t hurt herself more trying to escape. We tried to pull her paw out of the crack, but it wouldn’t come. It seemed like we’d have to hurt her to get it out. It was terrible, but finally Ghis made her sit down and then her paw just slipped out. What a scare!
Finally, last night I had my first tables to serve all by myself (five-course lobster dinners). I had a table of 4, then a table of 2 and then another 2. And then the power went out! So they kept cooking in the dark and luckily everyone was sitting on the patio anyway. We had to continue working and it was very dark and the cash register had no electricity so all the bills had to be redone by hand. Crazy! I hope the rest of my waitressing will be less eventful.
Tomorrow Morgane is starting her nature daycamp with our hosts’ daughter. That means I’ll have a little time to myself during the day. I’ll post more pics tomorrow. Right now the bugs are eating me alive!
