Hot, hot, hot

All summer, everywhere I go, this hot and sunny weather follows me. Sometimes it’s great, but sometimes it’s too hot to really want to be out and about.

Went to the farmer’s market this morning, just outside of the internet cafe. Met chef and author Michael Smith and his son Gabe and got a signed copy of his book for my mom (and a photo!). Morgane spent one of her tooth fairy dollars on a sunflower. We also bought purple carrots. Everything at the market was organic and looked great.

A sweet smile with sunflower and purple carrots.

Then we went to the laundromat and washed our clothes. Now we’re back at the apartment and the girls are trying to agree on what to play. Looks like they’re going to collect creatures from the water’s edge.

  1. I love the photo or Morgane with Sunflower and Purple Carrots!
What an impressionist painting that would make, no?
Diego Rivera also came to mind …
Do the purple carrots taste different from orange carrots??

  2. Great idea! The carrots taste pretty much the same. They have purple string beans, too, but they turn green when you cook them.

  3. That must be an english canadian thing. sorry I don’t know the guy… He must have a web site…

  4. My mom said he improvises a lot and was preparing a picnic for his son and serving it in his dump truck toys one day on the show…

  5. I had purple carrots last summer while on Vancouver Island, They are great. Tasted like a combination of a carrot and a beet. Your photos are great!
