Visiting the Capitol

We had beautiful weather for touring the capitol. When we came out of the metro, we were drawn to the Washington Monument. It turns out people can go up it, but we’ll have to go back and get tickets. I don’t want to go up anyway – looks scarier than the CN tower!

Then we walked past fountains and the large pond to the Lincoln Memorial. Downstairs we watched footage of Martin Luther King’s famous speech and were amazed by the crowds that once fit in the space around the pond.

From there, we hopped a double-decker convertible bus which brought us to the Natural History Museum.

We checked out the dinosaurs and then watched a 3D Imax movie about Dinosaurs. After that we took the bus around town a bit and walked down the mall past so many more museums until it was time to take the metro home.

Tomorrow we’ll go back for more. So many museums to see.
