Today we rode some more on the double-decker buses. We also went back and visited the Natural History Museum again.
This time we saw the ocean display. We saw a giant squid specimen that got caught in a fisherman’s net. It measured 11 metres long when it was alive.
We watched a movie that showed a submersible going down to the ocean floor and there were all kinds of undiscovered lifeforms floating around.

I was also taken by the First Nations artifacts that were brought to the museum about 130 years ago from British Columbia. It seemed weird that these items would be housed so far away. I’ve seen many things in BC museums so it was interesting to see their valuable collection.

Then we saw the famous jewels including the Hope Diamond (the biggest in the world?). There were also other famous jewels made with rubies and emeralds. There were pink and even red diamonds. It made me reflect on what made jewelry special before we became able to manufacture fakes.

Then Morgane and I went in a special garden filled with butterflies. We thought they might land on us. They came close, but they didn’t.

After that we saw the insect zoo and then decided we’d better catch our bus. On the way out, we saw a ton of human skeletons (even babies). We saw skeletons that became mysteries to be solved after they were unearthed. It was a long way to the exit! We also passed a real Egyptian mummy (which impressed Morgane) and, finally, cave people. Then we were free.

But we’ll be back soon.
