Today was a great day for photos. First we met up with fellow travellers that Ghis met on Prince Edward Island. They are from Switzerland and have been travelling for 8 months, doing the same thing as us. We’ve been trying to catch up with them for awhile and they just showed up in our campground.

We all went to Chincoteague Island. First we did a short hike in the forest. We saw fox squirrels which are abundant in the park, but endangered.

Then we went to the beach and found enormous seashells! Morgane and Ghis even got a little wet. We flew the kite and made a sandcastle, things we haven’t done for awhile.

Then we drove around the Snow Goose pond. Cars are only allowed between 3pm and dusk. The pond was covered with snow geese. Apparently they winter there and just arrived a couple of days ago. At one point, something scared them (maybe an eagle), and they all took off at once.

On the way out of the park, we stopped to take pictures of the wild horses. The light was perfect. They looked like moose, but more beautiful.

Then we drove (still with our friends) and saw a beautiful moon. They laugh because I stop so often to take pictures! We parked in a small village named Modest Town beside a church.

Today we’re taking the really long (17 miles?) bridge-tunnel to Virginia Beach.

Oh Heather!
Finally, a photo of Ghislain sitting without his computer 🙂
I’m so glad the weather cleared for you and that you got to see some awesome wildlife. We miss you in Falls in Church, VA.
We miss you, too. So do you think the photo of Ghis was more elusive than the rare fox squirrel? ha ha. I hope the weather stays this good.
