This morning, Morgane and I explored the park with the largest sand dunes on the island. Morgane slid down them, rolled down them, and made sand angels. We pretended we were lost in a big desert.

Then we drove towards Hatteras National Seashore. We stopped at a beach in Rodanthe (yes, where the movie was filmed).

There were lots of surfers so we took some pictures. Then we got back on the road and looked for a grocery store where we could stop for lunch. We planned to continue to Ocracoke Island – there is a free ferry that goes there.

Happily, we were stopped by Eliza who noticed our camper and came up and said hello. She said she had camped a lot and thought that we might be craving a place to go and a hot shower. “Wow,” we said. “Okay!”
We followed Eliza and her son, Tom, back to their beautiful cottage and learned that they had just signed the papers to buy it the day before.

We went for a walk on the beach all together. Then we came back and Eliza’s husband showed up. He was excited to see the cabin, having only visited it once before. Luckily, he still loved it.
We had a great dinner, pooling our food. It was funny because we were all new to the house, but it was great to be here to celebrate with them.

Now we’ve spent a great evening listening to them sing and they are one talented musical family!

Do not be fooled: This was no cabin. To most of us common people, it was a house. And a nice one at that…
Thank you again Tom, Eliza and Jim. We look forward to seeing (and hearing) you again.
I don’t believe that sunset!
How nice to be a part of your blog! It was a special treat for us, the new house has a magical karma that led us to you!
That sunset pic is definitely a screen saver!!
